FAQ's - Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

why the manufacturer does not make it yourself?
Automobile manufacturers need to take care in developing an engine / car on various problems of the masses and mass production into consideration. These manufacturers have to make compromises, which the vehicles are not quite perfectly matched by the manufacturer and it comes at a lower efficiency of the engines. Results are increased fuel consumption and only average power output.
1. Compromise – Marketing Department of the manufacturer:
The sales and marketing departments of a manufacturer give the development department guidelines regarding a newly to developed engine. This will predict scheduled power reserves that for a subsequent facelift, a new model or a parallel model in the future or can be used already.
2. Compromise – World Market:
It will be included reserves for countries with inferior fuel (low octane value or impurities) and reserves for local environmental factors such as extreme heat, extreme cold, high humidity and low air pressure. Thus, the engine that is planned with 140 hp, actually developed at 180 to 200 hp.
3. Compromise – Manufacturing tolerance:
Automobile manufacturers today are working together with many specialist suppliers. These suppliers can market their products within an agreed tolerance spectrum. Here, there are both plus- as well as minus tolerances. Suppose now as a supplier, then we would always produce a product so that it is within the tolerance range, which is most convenient for me as a supplier. If we put this in the production order, then an engine actually ordered comes with a compression ratio of 10:1 with a lower compression ratio of 9.5:1. The supplier is therefore on the "favorable and safe".
4. Compromise – Motor control software:
The supplier of the engine control software (such as Bosch, Siemens and Delphi) creates the last hand on the engine and also programmed on the „safe side“. He starts out in his calculations assumed that could meet all the negative in the worst case manufacturing tolerances and external influences. However, this never happens in practice, and inevitably leads to a lower efficiency.
Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Does my dealer / workshop in the diagnosis get displayed an error?
No! In the diagnostic device, no error is displayed.
All control functions and duties will remain the engine control unit, since SWISS CHIPTECH always performs on the basis of the latest software from the original manufacturer the CHIPTUNING or ECONOMIC TUNING.

Why do I save by increase of power and torque fuel?
This approach is contrary to our normal academic knowledge, but is easy to explain:

If we are in a vehicle has 150 hp and would like to drive 100 km/h, we provide a means of throttle on the throttle as 35%.If the vehicle performance boosted to 180 hp for example, the throttle valve in the engine is only set at 29% to drive 100 km/h. About this modified throttle setting is less fuel injected, which in turn leads to a reduction in consumption. Furthermore, is utilized in optimizing the performance of a Standard air excess of 20%. This has the consequence that can be achieved with less boost pressure greater fuel efficiency.
Of course, in practice it is more complex, since the engine can not operate with as little fuel, or any amount of air. This is where the secret lies in the right amounts can vary from engine to engine, even in identical cars.
